Ash Tree Removal in North NJ
The emerald ash borer has killed millions of ash trees across New Jersey. If your ash is infected, it is only a matter of time before it fails. Call (973) 343-6868.
Ash trees across New Jersey are dying. The emerald ash borer, an invasive beetle from Asia, has spread to every county in the state and killed millions of ash trees since it was first detected. Infected ash trees lose their canopy over one to three years and become dangerously brittle. Branches snap without warning. Trunks crack under their own weight. If you have ash trees on your property, they need to be inspected. And if they are infected, they need to come down before they come down on their own. Amazing Tree Services removes ash trees across Morris, Essex, Passaic, and Bergen counties. Ash tree removal is a growing part of our tree removal work across North NJ.
When You Need Ash Tree Removal
The emerald ash borer kills ash trees from the inside out. The larvae feed under the bark, cutting off the tree's nutrient supply. Early signs include thinning foliage in the upper canopy, D shaped exit holes in the bark, and increased woodpecker activity. By the time you see significant canopy loss, the tree is usually too far gone to save.
Dead ash trees become extremely brittle within one to two years of dying. The wood dries out and loses its structural integrity. Climbing a dead ash is dangerous because branches and even trunk sections can break under a climber's weight. These trees often require crane removal.
If you have ash trees that still look healthy, treatment with insecticide may be an option. But once the canopy has lost more than half its foliage, removal is the only safe choice.
Our Ash Tree Removal Process
We start by assessing the condition of the ash. If the tree is still partially alive and structurally sound, we can climb and section it normally. If the tree is dead and brittle, we use our crane to lift sections without putting anyone in the tree.
Dead ash removals are some of the most hazardous jobs in the industry. The wood breaks unpredictably. Branches that look solid snap when touched. Our crew plans every cut with the assumption that the wood will not hold, and we rig accordingly.
After removal, we chip all debris, haul the wood, and grind the stump. If you have multiple ash trees on your property, we assess them all and give you a plan for the entire group.
What Affects an Ash Tree Removal
Ash removal depends on the tree's size and condition. Living ash trees that are still structurally sound are standard removals based on height and location. Dead ash trees are more complex because of the added risk, the crane work, and the careful approach required to bring them down safely.
